The motivation to train has been severly lacking as tiredness and just plain frustration and being worn down from injury take its toll.

I’ve practically given up on Comrades for 2010, and 2011 may have to be the better option. It’s not as disappointing this time around as I am not really prepared whereas in 2008 I was ready to run.

It may be time to change my training schedule, consistency and building back up are the keys.

    Sanjay,

A better option might be to find a training group and train at least some of the time with the group. It makes motivation come a bit easier.

Almost nobody in Australia understands what it is that you are trying to do, and training on your own is always going to be difficult.

Track down the Australian Comades Ambassador Bruce Hargraves for help.

Injury is almost certainly going to come from inappropriate training (too much, too fast, inconsistent, etc. Could be any one of a number of things, but it all comes down to wrong training) and the solution is to train with a better plan.

Comrades is tough. Very tough. Trying to train for it and do it on your own (for the first time?) is exceptionally difficult. I know as I have done 9 of them. And I live in Brisbane, Australia. And I train mainly on my own.

    Hi Warren,

    Thanks for your advice.
I have always trained alone, and I enjoy it and generally find motivation is not the issue, just getting the runs on the board, waking up and being consistent are the keys!
You make a good point, and one I also believe. No training plan is any good if you don’t follow it and stay consistent. Good luck with your run!
